RST8: Grinding and polishing of scalpel blades

The RST8 rotary table grinding machine is designed for grinding and polishing scalpel blades of various shapes. The precision rotary indexing table is equipped with eight positions and a servo motor for indexing.

Three CNC axes are integrated into the grinding machine for the three rotary modules. Two grinding stations of the WSL series achieve a double-sided grinding of the cutting edges in the angle range 14°–35°.

  • Z-axis: horizontal grindingl/cross stroke
  • Y-axis: vertical axis
  • X-axis: infeed axis

•  polishing station with six CNC axes:
  • Y1 + Y2 -axis (independent vertical movement of the spiral wheels)
  • Z-axis grinding movement horizontal/cross stroke
  • X-axis (grooving axis)
  • SP + SP1 spindle axes for electrical synchronization

• dressing device with fixed, rotating diamond dressing roll

• dressing intervals pre-programmable with automatic compensation of the wheel wear

• tool loading via CNC-controlled Pick & Place unit

• loading and unloading rotary table with each six magazines and loading capacity of approx. 500 workpieces
